Ideal Pier of Stuff (Attraction)

This is the perfect image to sum pier design today. Current piers consist of placing as many attractions on the pier as possible to entice visitors to spend money. Pleasure piers have to economically viable but should be more about architectural space, the beauty of connecting with the water and the uniqueness of a seaside pier and there locations rather than tacky attractions.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I DO NOT WANT TO DO!

Great Yarmouth Setting

Thesis Title: "Great Yarmouth, A Pleasure Pier with a True Sense of Place"

Working Narrative:

“The project will look at regenerating the failing seaside town of Great Yarmouth in creating a town which is attractive to live, work and visit through the development of a new contemporary pier as a catalyst for future development. The proposal will address the problematic context issues of the town as well as design issues and long term sustainability of current pier designs in the UK.”
